Abolitionist Movements

Ablotionists were people against slavery, they helped take slaves by taking them into their homes and providing them with food and sleep. Albolitionists could be violent when it came to slaves, for Albolitionist John Brown captured Harper's Ferry. This action was one of great violence.

Dred Scott Case.
They took a slave to court. He was free.
Went to Supreme Court - he said he was a citizen.
The Supreme Court said he was NOT a person, or citizen. He was sent back South.

Fugitive Slave Law said that slaves could be 'returned' to the South if they escaped.
People hired Bounty Hunters and random African Americans were taken down South to be slaves
